How long I've been racing: My race team started running Spec Miata in the mid 2003 season as a father-son project. I was to road race the Miata and the vette and Kevin was to autocross the Miata. The Miata turned into more of a project than anticipated (two engines, a tranny, a dif and front clip all in one partial season *#@**#). As a result the Vette was only raced twice that year and the autocross activities had to wait until 2004. During 2004 things began to heat up with numerous good finishes, but no wins and by missing two races the championship was not even a consideration. For 2005 things are looking up, so the goal is to eventually put a Spec Miata championship into the list of highlights from my 20 plus years of road racing ……the highlights to date include over 25 wins, two divisional championships, one regional championship, numerous top pro finishes including poles and a track record in an RX-7. One of the divisional championships was in a Miata during the early nineties. During this time I have raced at most of the tracks across the US and Canada in a variety of different cars (early Z, Vette, RX-7 and MX-6GT), yet running the Miata at PIR is my favorite with some of the most competitive races I have ever had. Nothing like the starts with nearly 50 Miatas barreling into the Cork Screw at Laguna Seca, or the Festival Curves at PIR……. It is the NASCAR of sports car racing.

Sponsor: A big thanks goes out to everyone on the Firedog Racing team, the best crew around: Kevin McAllister, Cory Forrester, Jared Bechtel, Gary McAllister, Larry Bennett and Kathy Bennett. Note the demon inside……..
